Witness one of Australia’s leading contemporary artists at work. From August 5th to 15th 2024, COMO The Treasury will be welcoming Janet Laurence as our artist in residence.
You will be able to visit Laurence’s studio in the State Buildings and observe her process, from her exploration of initial concepts to how these emerge into a final piece.
Throughout the week, Laurence will host several conversations, workshops and dining experiences, inviting guests to know her better and understand her inspiration.
Sydney-born artist Janet Laurence explores the interconnection of living things through a variety of mediums, including painting, sculpture, photography, installation and video.
Her work is a sensory journey through the natural world, offering a moving commentary on the power and fragility of the environment.
Laurence’s art is exhibited in collections across Australia and internationally. Her critically acclaimed exhibition, Tears of Dust, was recently exhibited at Melbourne’s Museum of Australian Photography.
