The City of Perth Library’s much loved film club is back for another season, and this time they’ll be exploring the work of women filmmakers with their resident film buff Tristan Fidler.

Cameraperson (2016) directed by Kirsten Johnson | Tuesday 14 May | 6:30pm to 8:30pm 

A boxing match in Brooklyn; life in post-war Bosnia and Herzegovina; the daily routine of a Nigerian midwife; an intimate family moment at home: these scenes and others are woven into a tapestry of footage captured over the 25 year career of documentary cinematographer Kirsten Johnson.

A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night (2014) directed by Ana Lily Amirpour | Tuesday 11 June | 6:30pm to 8:30pm 

Set in the fictitious locale of Bad City, a stunningly crafted black-and-white world riddled with random events and flawed people. The Girl, a sassy loner who roams the streets on a skateboard she stole from a kid, and Arash, the unsuspecting object of her affections, develop a touching and unconventional relationship.

Your Sister’s Sister (2011) directed by Lynn Shelton | Tuesday 9 July | 6:30pm to 8:30pm 

A comedy about doing the right thing with the wrong person. One year after his brother’s death Jack hasn’t recovered. His best friend Iris prescribes solitary reflection and sends him to her father’s empty cabin. But she doesn’t realise her sister Hannah is there for similar reasons, having just walked out on a seven-year relationship.

The Big Steal (1990) directed by Nadia Tass | Tuesday 13 August | 6:30pm to 8:30pm 

Danny Clark is the recipient of a birthday present he would rather forget — his father’s old Nissan Cedric. But when the beautiful and spirited Joanna Johnson says yes to a date with him, he promises to pick her up in a Jaguar. In a tight fix and desperate to impress, Danny trades the Cedric in for a Jag, only to be ripped off by a dodgy used-car salesman.
